Creative Fabrica’s AI Font Generator: A Game-Changer for Designers?

As someone who loves experimenting with AI tools for design and publishing, I was excited to hear about Creative Fabrica’s latest innovation: the Font Generator. This new AI-powered tool is the first of its kind, allowing users to create and download fully installable fonts (TTF format) for both Mac and Windows—at no cost!

Please note that I am a CF affiliate thus, there are referral links below, but I paid out of pocket for my Full Access account.

What’s So Special About the Font Generator?

Creative Fabrica has been at the forefront of AI-generated graphics, and now they’re bringing that same innovation to typography. This new tool lets you:

  • Instantly Generate Fonts – From concept to a usable typeface in mere seconds.
  • Customise with Ease – Adjust weights, styles, and more using a simple interface.
  • Use in Personal & Commercial Projects – Making it ideal for designers, crafters, and even print-on-demand sellers (with caveats—more on that below).

The AI Font Generator will be accessible via Creative Fabrica Studio and is available to all registered users. Every account comes with 5,000 Coins, which is enough to generate and download up to five fonts for free. If you generate a font but don’t download it, the Coins will be refunded back to your account.

This tool officially launches today—February 4th, I’ve only had a quick half-hour play with it so far. It’s going to take a bit of getting used to in order to get results I can use.

Once I downloaded the TTF file, imported it into my Canva Pro account, I was able to start using it in my designs — for the web and even on commercial products too. It took a few attempts (generates – discard – generate – discard) which felt a bit like a slot machine but that added to the fun. You never knew what you were going to get.

What About Commercial Use?

Now, here’s where things get interesting—especially for those using fonts for Print on Demand (POD). While this AI-generated font tool is a fantastic addition to any creative workflow, it’s crucial to do your due diligence when using it for commercial products. (Links below for your reference).

With the rise of AI-generated assets, we’re also seeing an increase in legal challenges surrounding intellectual property. Some AI-generated fonts may inadvertently mimic existing typefaces, leading to potential copyright or trademark issues. If you’re planning to sell products using these fonts—whether on t-shirts, mugs, books, or anything else—make sure you’re keeping an eye on any developing legal discussions around AI-generated content.

Is the Pro Subscription Worth It?

While the free version gives you a great introduction to the tool, serious designers might want to consider Creative Fabrica Pro. It offers access to an extensive range of fonts, graphics, and AI tools that can significantly enhance your creative projects. If you’re frequently working on new designs or selling products online, the Pro plan is definitely worth exploring.

Final Thoughts

Creative Fabrica’s Font Generator is a bold and exciting step forward in AI-powered design. Whether you’re a hobbyist, a designer, or a POD seller, this tool opens up new possibilities for font creation. Just remember to stay informed about legal considerations when using AI-generated assets commercially.

I’ll be testing it out more now it’s launched, will you? Let me know your thoughts!

While I remain a fan of CF and will continue using it, again be sure to read the Ts and Cs and do your due diligence. “Commercial use” doesn’t always mean full commercial use
