My Last Canva 2022 Updates

As the year is coming to a close, I thought I’d write a quick wrap-up of a few of the latest Canva 2022 updates. Though there are literally dozens of up Canva 2022 updates, in this post I’ll just focus on a few of my faves. Let’s talk about Element Timing, Playback Speed, Magic Write. Don’t forget if you want to try Pro for FREE for 45 Days (instead of the normal 30), then you can upgrade to Canva Pro here.

Playback Speed – Video Timing

Would you like more control over your Canva videos? Then have I got wonderful news for you. Rolling out to all users today is your ability to control the speed of your videos – making it play faster or slower. How awesome is that? It’s so new I’ve not even had much time to play with it, but you can sure as hell bet I will be using it often when making my videos in Canva.

I am curious if this is a feature in Canva that you are excited about too. Do let me know in the comments below.

Element Timing in Canva

Another major update from Canva, towards the end of the year, is called ‘Element Timing‘ which allows you to bring in text and graphics at different times as well as have them disappear from your videos too. So basically you can select your element and edit its start time and duration in your timeline. Note you’ll only find Element Timing in video doc types.

Magic Write

Have you got Docs? Have you tried Magic Write? If you don’t know what it is, let me quickly explain. Magic Write is Canva’s new AI text generator to help you inspire your first draft of content, fast. You can use it help you write social media posts or blogs.

Last week, I shared some info about it in my ‘Canva’s Full of Magic’ post Linkedin (Sign up for ‘Thea’s Canva Beat’ newsletter here) the beauty of Magic Write.

A Few Bonus Canva 2022 Updates

Ok as it’s the season to give, let me throw in a few more updates…

PDF Open With

You’ll now see Canva as an option to ‘Open With’ when you download a PDF to your computer or device. (By the way Canva adding the ability to edit PDFs has been a game changing update for me this year!)

Canva Templates and Styles are now under Design at the top left of your Canva dashboard.

Styles has Moved…

So you may have noticed that Templates (top left of your dash) is now called Design. Under there you’ll now find Templates and Styles. Definitely worth having a look.

Say ‘Hey’ to Bulk Create

And if you haven’t seen it yet, you may enjoy my Bulk Create tutorial. It’s a feature that is a real time saver, let me tell you. Take 3 minutes to watch it. If you haven’t subscribed, then please do.

See you in ’23!

Ok so that’s going to be it for today’s final (most likely) Canva update for 2022. Barring any unforeseen updates. I hope you’ve enjoyed this post. They’re all pretty fun, eh? What update are you most excited about? Let me know in the comments below.

Wishing you and yours all the very best over the holidays and look forward to updating you more on Canva’s news in 2023.
