UPDATE: As of March 2, 2024 the App seems to have been removed. I am asking for an update about this App and will report back. So sorry it’s not there as I really enjoyed this App and I know a lot of people did. (While not the same at all you could go play with Paintify.)

Canva’s ecosystem is constantly evolving, with new apps and features being added almost daily. It’s like a never-ending treasure trove of creative tools just waiting to be explored. And I am particularly excited about their latest gem: SpeedPaint. This nifty app transforms your uploaded photos into a sketch and then gradually fills them in, creating a beautiful painting video. It’s quick, unique, and loads of fun.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you create your own masterpiece with SpeedPaint:

  1. Choose Your Document Type: Start by selecting the type of document you want to create in Canva.
  2. Find the Apps: Scroll down the left-hand menu and click on “Apps.”
Step 1 - SpeedPaint - click on Apps.
  3. Locate SpeedPaint: Scroll down to find SpeedPaint or simply type it in the search box to find it faster.
SpeedPaint Step 2 - type in Speed or search for SpeedPaint
  4. Select SpeedPaint: Click on SpeedPaint to open the app.
  5. Upload and Customize: Upload the photo you want to transform. Then, choose your frames per second, sketch duration, colour fill duration, and background colour.
  6. SpeedPaint - step 3
  7. Add Effects: You have the option to add a sketching hand effect or a fade-out effect for that extra pizzazz.
  8. Animate: Click “Animate Image” and watch as Canva and SpeedPaint work their magic, turning your photo into a stunning video.

And voila! In just a few simple steps, you’ve created a beautiful painting video that’s sure to turn heads. Now, all that’s left is for you to share your creation with the world.
