First up in Thea’s Three Treasures is an app called Ultra Real that I recently stumbled upon and have been thoroughly enjoying.

Now, I don’t know how “new” it is because, frankly, it’s getting hard to keep up with the Canva Apps hitting the marketplace seemingly daily, but I’ve just started using it in the past week or so! This AI Text-to-Image app leverages the power of artificial intelligence to transform your text descriptions into stunning, hyper-realistic visuals.

Whether you’re looking to create unique images for your blog, social media posts, or design projects, this app is a game-changer. Simply type in a description, and watch as the AI brings your words to life with incredible accuracy and creativity. It’s perfect for those moments when you need a quick visual but don’t have the time or resources to create one from scratch.

Couple walking on a beach, holding hands with text to Take Me Away to Hanalei Bay
Just made this silly graphic for my big sister Wendy who was excited about her trip to Hanalei Bay, Kauai, Hawaii. The prompt was something like a couple walking down a beach with golden sand and turquoise water (possibly a little more eloquent than that but you get the idea).

Onto another highly anticipated app that I tested out this week—the Subtitles app. Honestly, I don’t even think I used it right, but it worked perfectly for what I needed. Essentially, I just wanted to transcribe the audio from a 30-second unboxing video. (Below)

You get a small amount of transcription for free, but you’ll need to upgrade for more minutes. Prices seem reasonable at $5 for 600 minutes, $10 for 1800 minutes, and $15 for 3600 minutes.

I’ve used a paid version of Descript for years, but just cancelled my $144 annual subscription because I wasn’t using it enough. What’s handy about the Subtitles app is that you don’t have to leave Canva to get your transcription done. I suspect some of you will be happy about this convenience. Let me know what you think in the comments!

Well, I’m not sure if it’s “the best”, but I was over-the-moon to discover this one. It’s called FontFrame. This app allows you to add an image background to your text by uploading an image or selecting one from your existing design. You can change your font type, adjust the photo placement, outline width, and more.

Over the years, there have been countless videos showing workarounds to achieve effects like gold or silver metallic text in Canva, or to add patterns and gradients. While these workarounds were helpful, FontFrame offers a much more streamlined and efficient process for creating these effects.

Yes there are Apps like TypeGradient and Magic Morph which also allow some cool options but this one just feels different to those other options. I can’t wait to dig into this one more.
