My Early Days in Ecommerce

Before giving you the full details of Ecommerce Scotland 2025, let me take you on a quick walk down my memory lane. My early days in Scottish ecommerce began at a web development company in Renfrewshire. Two of the biggest sites I worked on as a content creator back in 1999 were each valued at £250,000. One was a toy store and the other a luxury gifts company – both London based. Back in the ’90s, most sites were hand-coded by skilled programmers—an expensive and time-consuming process.

Fast forward 25 years, and now anyone can launch an online store for free or use platforms like Shopify for a fraction of the cost. In fact, when I launched my Totally Content shop last year, I opted for Fourthwall because it was free and seamlessly integrated with Printful for high-quality fulfilment.

Why I Am Attending

Over the last 15 years as a trainer and consultant, I’ve run multiple businesses and delivered training through government programmes like Business Gateway. I’ve also worked with SMEs, colleges, and universities. It’s a fantastic opportunity to network with professionals across business and education.

Alongside consulting, I’ve built my own Ecommerce ventures. Selling on print-on-demand platforms like Redbubble, TeePublic, and Merch by Amazon has been part of that journey. Ecommerce isn’t one-size-fits-all—it works at every scale and budget. Lately, I’ve been using FourthWall to gain more control over my brand. (You can read more about why I chose Fourthwall here.)

I’ll also be championing Canva as Scotland’s first Canva trainer and Verified Expert. If we chat, don’t forget to ask me about that (and maybe even grab some Canva swag!).
