Mixcloud Week 6 Recap with cassette tapes

Mixcloud Week 6 Recap

Hey lovelies! I’m back with another weekly round-up of my Mixcloud adventures. This time, we’re recapping some intriguing streaming stats (including the days you all seem to love most), reminiscing with a Radio Archive treat, and of course, chatting about the latest Joyful Journey. And yes, you’ll get to stream them all right here!

Streaming Stats:

This week was a quiet one on the followers’ front, with no new additions to the club. Boo! However, Tuesday emerged as the champion of streaming days, closely tailed by Friday. Quite understandably, since those are my upload days! There have been a total of 3322 minutes listened. Geographically, San Francisco, Truro, and Cupertino led the charge.

A special shoutout to my pals, The Krests – I’ve got a sneaky suspicion they might be bolstering those Cupertino numbers!

Radio Archive Q’d In on Q96 in ’06

Taking a step back to a chilly February evening in 2006, we journeyed through the first hour of Q’d In on Q96 – my Indie show. The music, the mood, the sheer indie ambience – it truly encapsulates a moment in time.
From the track choices to the snippets of chatter, it’s a reminder of an era where indie music was vibrant, eclectic, and ever-evolving. I’ll consider sharing hour two in due course…For now, you can stream the archive right here.

Joyful Journey #007: A 90-min 90s Mix

Friday’s Joyful Journey transported us to 1997, immersing us in the vibrant alternative scene of that time. This particular mix, a nostalgic delight, emerged from merging two distinct mixtapes: one created especially for my dear friend Mairi, and the other reflecting my personal favourites of the era. Spanning the spectrum of hard rock anthems and indie dance cuts to the gentler, evocative tones of the ’90s. It’s a journey that captures the essence of a transformative decade in music.

In the process of curating, I came across tracks that, to my surprise, had slipped my memory, sitting comfortably alongside my beloved fave. From awesome Scottish indie cuts to the commanding voices of some of my top female artists of the time, this mixtape is a testament to a time of musical exploration and joy.

If you’ve listened, I’d love to hear your thoughts and any memories it may have stirred.

Remastered Joy: Journey #001 Revisited

This week also marked a renaissance of sorts, as I treated listeners to a ‘Joyful Journey #001 – Remake’. Remastered for an enhanced audio experience, it’s an opportunity to reacquaint with the mix’s classic 80s tracks. Whether it’s the subtle nuances in the bassline, the crisper trebles, or just the overall smoother sound quality – this revisit is worth your ear time. If you loved it before, you’re in for a treat with this polished version. Give it a spin and let me know if you can spot the differences!

That’s a Wrap

And there we have it! Another week, another melodic trip down memory lane. Whether you’re here for the stats, the indie vibes, or just to embark on a joyful journey with me, I’m grateful for your company. Remember, music is all about exploration, about re-discovering sounds, and making memories. So, plug in those headphones, press play, and let’s keep the musical adventures rolling! And hey, as always, drop me a comment, and let me know your thoughts. Until next week, stay tuned and keep grooving!

PS: If you missed week 5 it’s here, and week 4 is here. I’m blogging about my Mixcloud journey every Sunday evening.
